but from quick tests I was only seeing like 15Mbit between the wan an lan with NAT on. I was very disappointed in some testing I did a while back on actual thruput between the wan an lan ports. Thanks again for any help you can give me. But I lose the control which, unfortunately, is what I want over the network. In all honesty, if I leave everything as default on the Verizon router then everything does work with my WRT54G settings. My head is swirling trying to figure this out and I know this post is a mess, but I would appreciate any help you could offer. But the WRT54G also has an ip address of 192.168.0.1 so basically I can access it with two different IP numbers. The only things I've managed to do on the Verizon modem is turn off the wireless (so that WRT54G takes over) and turn off DHCP (so that Windows Server DHCP handles everything).Īnd to make things a bit more complicated, the FIOS modem is on 192.168.1.x while the entire network is on 192.168.0.x and the Verizon modem is assigning 192.168.1.2 to WRT54G. I configured the DD-WRT firmware with no problem, but I'm completely lost when it comes to Verizon's (go figure). What I want to do is basically bypass the Verizon modem and have the WRT54G handle everything just like it did when we had Comcast. But since switching to Verizon FIOS, their modem/router has DHCP and all these extensive features that my WRT54G was handling before. When we had Comcast I never logged into the modem, I just logged into the WRT54G router (w/ DD-WRT firmware update) to make network changes. We just got FIOS at my house after switching from Comcast.
